Pink Lady Baby Booties: What You Will Need
Assuming you are starting from scratch, you will need the following supplies to make a pair of Pink Lady baby booties:
- 1/4 yard light pink felt
- 1/8 yard dark pink felt
- scissors
- hot glue gun + glue sticks
- needle + thread
- ruler or measuring tape
First
Cut two rectangles out of the light pink felt. These will be the fronts of the booties. Then, cut two smaller rectangles out of the dark pink felt. These will be the backs of the booties.
Next, use your hot glue gun to attach the dark pink rectangles to the light pink rectangles. Make sure to leave an opening at the top for your baby’s foot to go through.
Then, cut a small strip of light pink felt and wrap it around the edge of each bootie where the two colors meet. This will create a nice finished look. Once you have done that, use your needle and thread to stitch around the edge of each bootie.
Finally, use your hot glue gun to attach a small piece of velcro on the underside of each bootie. This will help keep them on your baby’s feet!
Pink Lady Baby Booties: Knitting the Booties
Assuming you would like a step-by-step guide on how to knit baby booties:
Cast on 24 stitches using your preferred method.
Row 1: Knit 1, purl 1 across
Row 2: Purl 1, knit 1 across
Repeat these two rows until your knitting measures about 3” long.
Shape the toe of the bootie:
Rw 1: Knit 2 together, knit 2 together, knit 10, knit 2 together, knit 2 together (20 stitches remain)
Row 2 and all even-numbered rows: Purl across
Rw 3: Knit 2 together, knit 8 (16 stitches remain)
Row 5: Knit 2 together, knit 6 (14 stitches remain)
Rw 7: Knit 2 together, knit 4 (12 stitches remain)
Row 9: Knit 2 together twice (8 stitches remain) Break yarn leaving an 8” tail. Thread tail onto tapestry needle and draw through remaining 8 stitches. Pull tight and fasten off. Sew side seams of bootie using tapestry needle and remaining yarn tail.
Repeat for second bootie.
Finishing the Booties
Assuming you have already knit the body of the booties, you will now need to finish them off. There are a few steps involved in this process, but don’t worry – it’s not difficult!
First, you will need to gather the stitches at the top of the bootie. To do this, cut a length of yarn and thread it through the remaining stitches. Then, pull tight and fasten off.
Next, you will need to sew on the buttons. This is optional, but it does add a nice touch! Once the buttons are in place, your booties are finished!
