How to Crochet a Cozy Stripe Blanket
This Crochet Cozy Stripe Blanket is the perfect easy project for a beginner crocheter! Made with just two colors of super soft worsted weight yarn, this cozy blanket works up quickly and is perfect for snuggling on the couch. The best part? You can easily adjust the size of this blanket by adding or removing stripes.
Start by crocheting a foundation chain that is a multiple of 11 + 2. For my blanket, I made a foundation chain of 130 stitches. Once your foundation chain is complete, single crochet in each stitch across until you reach the end of the row. Repeat this step for a total of 3 rows. Do not turn your work at the end of Row 3, we will start working in rounds now.
To start working in rounds, slip stitch into the first stitch of the previous row. Chain 1. Single crochet in each stitch around. Slip stitch into the first single crochet of the round to join. This completes Round 1.
Round 2: Chain 1. *Skip 1 stitch, single crochet in the next 3 stitches, 2 single crochets in the next stitch, single crochet in the next 3 stitches, skip 1 stitch* Repeat from *to* around until you reach the end of the round. Slip stitch into the first single crochet of the round to join.
Round 3: Chain 2 (counts as first half double crochet). Half double crochet in each stitch around until you reach the end of the round. Slip stitch into the top of chain 2 to join.
.
Round 4:Chain 2 (counts as first half double crochet). Skip 1 stitch, half double crochet in each of the next 4 stitches, 2 half double crochets in next stich, half double crochet in each of next 4 stitches, skip a stich* Repeat from *to* around until you reach end of round. Slip stich into top of chain two to join
Round 5: Chain 2 (this counts as the first half double crochet). Half double crochet in every stitch around until you reach the end of the round. Slip stitch into the top of chain 2 to join.
Round 6: Chain 1. *Skip 1 stitch, single crochet in next 3 stitches, 2 single crochets in next stitch, single crochet in next 3 stitches, skip 1 stich* Repeat from *to* around until you reach end of round. Slip stitch into first single crochet to join.
Round 7: Chain 1. Single crochet in each stich around until you reach end of round. Slip stitch into first single crochet to join.
Repeat Rounds 2-7 until your blanket is the desired size. I made a total of 8 stripes for my blanket, alternating between the two colors every 2 rounds. Fasten off and weave in all loose ends when you are finished.
